While you are attempting to sync iPhone/iPod/iPad with iTunes on Mac or Windows, the iTunes error 13014 may occur like the following message:
The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13014).


Solution #1

To fix the 13014 error, follow these steps below:
  1. Update the latest version of iTunes
  2. Re-run iTunes, if the error still exits, an then reboot computer
  3. Close iTunes, disable the anti-virus software temporarily
  4. Re-run iTunes and re-sync the device
Some third-party software, including security software, can interfere with the sync process between your computer and your device. Change your security software’s setup and then try to sync again.

Solution #2

If these steps do not solve your problem, you can try turn off Genius, Genius is quite neat addition in iTunes. It not only creates a list of your favorites automatically but also helps you to find and buy new stuff from iTunes store. However, it might be one reason for iTunes error 13014. So turn off Genius by applying the steps given hereunder:
  1. Go to Store
  2. Turn off iTunes match
  3. When you turn off iTunes match turn off Genius menu will appear
  4. Select disable Genius and you are done
  5. Reboot system and sync again
  1. Open iTunes library folder
  2. Delete the following files from the library folder:
    • iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    • iTunes Library Genius.itdb-journal
  3. Reboot system and sync again
